Program Highlights

Tuesday 19th May

Learn your grammar to grow your language. A one day grammar workshop facilitated by linguists Bridget Priman and Melinda Holden.
Participants should bring along a copy of the grammar and dictionary for your language. These will be important reference tools if you have them.

Wednesday 20th May

Language in film workshop. Work with Wide Bay ABC Open Producer, Brad Marsellos, and learn how to make a film that will showcase your language as part of the ABC Open Mother Tongue Project.

Making resources with templates. Annalee Pope from the Central Queensland Language Centre will run a workshop on how to make resources in your language using that centre’s Language Resource Kit.

Teaching language through song and dance. Join Ashleigh Gould from the Korrawinga Aboriginal Corporation as she leads her session in learning Butchulla songs and dances.

Thursday 21st May

Miromaa Language Technology Tools. Explore the tools and practices for language documentation with Daryn McKenny of the Miromaa Aboriginal Language and Technology Centre.

Yungunn Gaureima. Explore new ways to facilitate storytelling in Queensland languages with digital tools. Hosted by The Planet Spins and the Queensland Indigenous Languages Advisory Committee.
