Kanji Waiburra – Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Languages Forum
Planning is underway for the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Languages Forum to be held on the Gold Coast on the 30th and 31st May, in partnership with The Yugambeh Museum, Language and Heritage Research Centre.
This will be an opportunity for people to come together and review the best of what is being achieved in language projects around Queensland, and to support each other in starting up or strengthening community programs.
Key sessions will include:
• Language in tourism – What language brings to the visitor experience
• Training language teachers – Exploring pathways
• Learn your grammar to use your language
The Forum will follow on from the Yugambeh Mobo Festival and those who are able to attend early are encouraged to join the weekend’s festivities.
Please mark this event on your calendar. More information will be sent out in the coming weeks.
Best regards,
Faith Baisden
